'Natura' Series, 1976

Photographic print on aluminum, mounted on plywood panel. Signed lower right. As per label on the back, from the Natura series, printed by AMAR Collezioni Milano, Italy, 1976, and is copy No. 05 of the series. Franco Fontana is an eclectic photographer, who has successfully experimented with various photographic genres. But his research has focused above all on the use of color and geometry. The choice of subjects, whether rural, industrial or urban landscapes, is always secondary to the two protagonists of Fontana's photographs: color and geometry. Through these two "levers", which Fontana masterfully handles, the photographs of his landscapes do not limit themselves to representing reality, but create an abstraction made of strong, almost exaggerated colors, and clean, marked lines. The panel is framed with aluminum strips.

Antique Painting Religious Subject Oil on Canvas XVII-XVIII Century

Oil on canvas. Dramatic scene taken from the evangelical story of the Passion of Christ, sees Jesus stripped of his clothes, crowned with thorns and tied to a column, who is being flagellated by four men, fierce and ferocious; his white body, twisted by pain, stands out in the center, while the other figures, in more burnished colors, almost blend into the background, consisting of a large Roman vaulted arch. The painting, still on the first canvas, requires restoration due to small holes, paint losses and stains.
