Description : Scena pastorale
Oil on canvas. The scene, full of figures, depicts different moments of the farming life: in the foreground, some men are shearing the sheep while the women on the right are preparing a picnic on the grass. Behind them, other men are loading faggots of wood on a cart. On the back, a paper label attributes the painting to Jacopo Bassano (1518-1592), who had as constant element in his art a self-denial to the bucolic environment in which he used to live and work. The painting was bought by the ancestors of the previous owners in Argentina in 1917. Restored and relined with antique framework, it is presented in an antique modified and gilded anew frame. 16th century.
