Oil on canvas. On the back signature and dedication 'To the dearest friend Alessandro Malliani'. The painting, fair condition, is an interesting demonstration of Vittore Tasca's painting activity, an important painter from Bergamo of 1800. He was a supporter of Garibaldi and an active participant from the Risorgimento uprisings to the participation of the Expedition of the Thousand, for which he enlisted some volunteers in the province of Bergamo (which was called City of the Thousand due to the high number of participants). He created a small romantic park inside his villa in Brembate, famous even today. In his villa, he used to gather his friends to recall the deeds of the esteemed captain and he used to spread his passion for music and painting. To this end, he hosted several artists such as il Piccio (Giovanni Carnovali), a friend of him. Tasca loved both politics and art and he was elected repeatedly in the Chamber of Deputies. He was considered decent in depicting landscapes in person and he took part to many exhibitions. The painting is dedicated to Alessandro Malliani, an intellectual from Bergamo who was also director of the 'Giornale di Bergamo'. The painting requires restoration and it's presented in a gilded frame of the first half of the 19th century.
