Description : Veduta di Maiori

Oil on board by Pietro Scoppetta (1863-1920). Signed in the lower right corner. A delicate and bright representation of the Maiori coast, a village known also for the school of landscape-painters who met there between the late 1800s and 1920s, among which the most important was Scoppetta. A very similar painting, but with a point of view from the beach, with the same sailboat in the middle and the same palace on the cliff, was sold on auction in London at Bonhams on September 27th 2017 for €20,000. The board is presented in a coeval gilded and decorated frame. Late 1800s-early 1900s.
