Oil on canvas. Signed in the lower right. On the back of the frame,barely legible, written in pencil "...Macugnaga and Monte Rosa". The painting belongs to the characteristic production of the painter, the son of an English father and an Italian mother and a student at the Academy of Brera in Milan, which was called the painter of the mountain: he began to know the Alps and went later in Switzerland, where he was among the pupils of the famous Alexandre Calame, one of the main promoters of the alpine scenery of switzerland); unlike his master, that he preferred a dramatic view and sublimatrice of the landscape in his works he constantly maintains a measure of colour and composition adherent to the real data, remaining in the field of the picturesque.
