Description : Scena di battaglia.
Oil on canvas. The painting comes with expertise attributable to Giacinto Mercanti, called 'Lo Spolverini' (1657-1734). In our opinion, the good quality and the lines are more typical of Francesco Monti, called 'Il Brescianino' (1646-1712). Many artists worked with him, especially due to the large amount of battles paintings requested after the half of 1600s in all Europe. For this reason, a new trend called 'Battaglisti' was created in Lombardy and more generally, in Northern Europe. The painting is presented in a frame with gilded decorations on black stained wood. Late 17th century.
