Oil on canvas. The painting is the right section of a larger work. Even if balanced, pleasant and decorative, it's evident that the section of the scene with the character which the young boy is addressing is missing. The work, for its lines and countenance may have been made by a Northern European artist, Flemish perhaps, who knew the results of the late Mannerism and the painting of the Lombard Counter-Reformation. Restored and relined. Early 17th century.
