The building is depicted with an intense design ability and is part of the Balbianello architectural complex (also known as Villa Arconati from the name of one of its owners) built in the last quarter of the 18th century on a pre-existing Franciscan monastery. The building overlooks the western bank of Lake Como in one of the most suggestive locations of all the lake. Currently, it belongs to the FAI and it houses a museum.
