Description : Allegoria dell'Amor sacro

A tempera and gold painting on parchment. Divided in three sections: in the middle, a female figure holding a flaming lantern with a writing above her "Salve, odi Carità sacra fiammella". On the two side sections decorated with shoots and flowers, two cherubs are holding cartouches exalting Love. Further quote in a cartouche on the base. At the bottom right there is the signature of the artist D. Angelo Foppa, the priest of Bergamo known also as artist and painter of miniatures. The painting is presented in revival frame. Late 1800s - early 1900s.
