A pair of aquatints depicting two episodes of the Punic Wars between Rome and Carthage. One depicts the Carthaginians who, weaponless, are trying to keep fighting the Romans with some pieces of furniture while women are cutting their hair to make ropes for the bows. The other one depicts two fugitives announcing the defeat to the citizens who took shelter in the temple of Saturn. At the bottom there is the description of the scene and the dedication made by the painter to the gentleman Venturi Gallerani, protector of Belle Arti. In coeval frame. It requires cleaning. 1797.
