Description : Deposizione

Oil on canvas. The dramatic scene depicts the moment when Jesus' body is pulled from the cross after having the nails removed with the tools on the ground. Mary is welcoming her son in her arms while two male figures (one of them is probably disciple John) are lifting his body to envelop it in the funeral sheet. The whole scene is characterized by a strong movement of the figures who are intertwined and gathered around Christ's pale body. Restored and relined. 17th-18th century.
