Oil on canvas depicting the dramatic evangelic scene of Jesus' ascent to Golgotha with the Cross on his shoulders. He is followed by the women and disciple John while the torturer is pulling and urging him. Very interesting is the contrast between Jesus and his followers' stillness and the movement of the torturer, whose figure draws an ascending line pointing at the direction towards hill Golgotha and the sky. Restored and relined. 17th century.
