Oil painting on canvas. Signed and dated lower left. A pupil of the Moretto Art School in Brescia, hometown where he worked until 1928, then moving to Milan, Scaroni developed a painting that reveals an impressionist imprint, especially in the early years, then assuming a less nuanced connotation. His production includes several portraits, including that of Alfredo Carozzi, benefactor of the Ospedale Maggiore in Milan; but the landscape production is also numerous, with glimpses of the Lombard valleys known to him. In the proposed painting, the woman portrayed stands out for her strong personality, underlined by her confident pose and her proud yet smiling gaze, by her clothing that is bold in colors and style; particular the rendering of the play of shadows, with that of the woman who then fades into the background. The painting is mounted on a frame of inadequate size, with consequent detachment from it and the canvas coming out of the frame.
