Description : Ritratto del Vescovo Carlo Gigli

Oil painting on board. Good quality and intense expressiveness. The depicted character is identified from the letter he holds in his hands. The letter is headed to 'Sua Eminenza Carlo Gigli, Vescovo di Tivoli' (His Eminence Carlo Gigli, Bishop of Tivoli) and signed by 'Economo del Seminario' (Bursar at Seminary). Carlo Gigli was Bishop from 1840 to 1880 approximately. The board was restored and reinforced. It has a split in the lower part and traces of woodworms. Second half of the 19th century.
