Description : Quattro raffigurazioni della Vergine con il Bambino

Tempera on board. The icon depicts four different representations of the Virgin Mary with the Baby in squares. Each square has a different meaning according to the position and the clothes of the two figures: two of them depict the Virgin Mother and underline the human and loving relationship between her and the baby. The other two depict the Mary Queen wearing a crown and royal clothes. She is introducing the Son, King and Savior to the world. In the last square, the son is wearing royal clothes too and he is standing beside the mother and not in her arms. The board shows some losses of color. 19th century.
