Oil on canvas. The depicted subject, whose name and personal details (Luigi Negri 1798-1890) appear on the canvas, belonged to the rich family from the land-owners bourgeoisie of the Abbiatense area (between Magenta and Abbiategrasso), who lived in Cassinetta di Lugagnano, where Luigi was mayor after the Unification of Italy, from 1870 to 1875. He was the father of the better known Gaetano Negri, soldier, historian and politician, who was an Italian Senator and Mayor of Milan. The portait, already restored and reframed, is displayed with a beautiful coeval gilded frame.
