Colored litograph on paper. It is signed in the bottom right corner and numbered 39/100 in the bottom left corner. Enrico Baj was born in Milan in 1924. He was a painter, sculptor and essayist; he was an important figure in 1950's-1960's cultural scene along with Fontana, Manzoni, and Klein. Baj joined a number of artistic movements which were crucial in the 20th century: Nouveau Réalisme, Surrealism, Pataphysics, the Nuclear Movement. His artistic choices tell a lot about his personality and his ability to analyse reality right down to the details. He developed a personal, pessimistic interpretation of the world. He often portrays fashion as a degenerate form of art, he also insists on technological progess which seems to be beyond our control, dominating our lives, turning people into robots, in a world where form prevails on substance. In frame.
