Oil on walnut panel. Lombard school. The Saint has recognizable features like his physiogmony and the bishop dress (the red skullcap and mozzetta). Behind the Saint there is a cave: St Charles was known for his frequent retreats in prayer and penitence in the small hermitage in the park of the Monastery of S. Giacomo nel Viterbese.
