Description

Portable armonium. Manufacture's brand undere the top. The armonium is poor version of an organ and as the organ was usually used to play church music but thanks to its characteristics it was aslo in household. It was patented in 20th century and was very popular. The big difference with organ concerns the elements that make sounds: The harmonium is based only on the play of free reeds that is metal tongues through which passes a forced air flow emitted by bellows operated by pedals while in the organ the sound is created by the vibration of the tubes.
