Description : Riposo nella fuga in Egitto
Oil on canvas. Emilian School. The scene shows the Virgin Mary wearing her traditional colors holding Baby Jesus seated under a tree; the scene develops along an oblique line from th bottom to the top and from the left to the right: on the left there is Saint Giovannino who's trying to reach the fruit that Jesus is giving to him while on the right two archangels are offering baskets to the Mother; in the background, Saint Joseph is resting leaning against the tree. The oblique line highlights the mediation role of Mary and Jesus between earthly and unearthly, role that brings new nutriment to the Humanity to which Saint Joseph doesn't take part remaning in the background. Already restored, need other restoration works because of later color drops. Framed.
