Oil on canvas. Gregory the great (540-604), who from 590 was the Pope, and is venerated as a saint and doctor of the Church. A benedictine monk, devoted both to the works of charity, study, and scripture, is pictured here, already the pope, in the two moments of study and writing of its wide production, inspired by the Holy Spirit to the right, from God the Father to the left.
