Description : La nave Regina Margherita

Oil on metal plate. On the lowere right corner ther are F.Scoccimarro's signature, date of making and place Trani. On the lower left corner the name of the ship R.M ( Regina Marina) Regina Margherita. It is a famous battleship that with her twin Benedetto Brim made up the naval class Regina Margherita ( fast and powerful battleships). The Regina Margherita had been the flagship of the fleet untill 1910. During First World War in December 11th 1916 the ship hit two mines while gettin out of the Valona Bay in Albania and sank: during that shipwreck 671 people died having important consequences on the strategy led during the naval warfare. The painting is displayed in a coeval Liberty frame.
