Description : Cristo deriso

Oil on canvas. Italian School. The scene, that represent a moment from the Passion of Christ, is full of characters, linked together and they are set around Christ, in the centre: his figure, motionless and curled up in his pain, it contrasts with the plasticity and the vigor of the bodies of his captors. All of the figures are well characterized in their costumes and their expressions. The outline is dark, with the exception of the window with grating, the only source of light. The painting is still in the original canvas; the crack is marked and has many small holes. The piece is in an antique gilded frame.
