Description : The big after the snow

Oil on canvas. Signature, date and title on the back. Paolo Paradiso, from Milan, is the Realist artist who paints the United States of the 50s and 60s. He was born in Milan in 1957. He undertook studies of graphic design and, other than painting, which he was always fond of, he started working with photography. In 1978, he opened his own photo studio and, while he continued his pictorial production, he collaborated as a photographer with fashion magazines and advertising agencies. In 1983, he moved to the United States, to Chicago where, influenced by American pop-art, he focused on painting the most. From his long stay of over 20 years, his fascination with the United States and the atmospheres of the 50s and 60s was born. Some of his favourite subjects were the city of New York, to which the Milanese painter dedicated most of his paintings, with glimpses and urban views that brings us back to a recent past. Paradiso reprises its locations: the streets and the buildings, the crowded pavements, the signs, the shop windows and the lamps, with the cars and vehicles from the time that pass by in traffic, with passer-bys dressed according to the trends of that period. In 2004, he won the Award for Painting Carlo Dalla Zorza, dedicated to Italian artists of the newer generations, he was discovered by the Ponte Rosso Gallery which represents him exclusively since then and presents him every year with different titles. His last exhibition at the Ponte Rosso Gallery has been in October-November 2020, an exhibition that showed the work of Paolo Paradiso during the pandemic; his pieces still want to communicate optimism and the pleasure of immersing yourself in the hectic metropolitan landscapes. Paradiso said about himself:"I paint what I enjoy. I don't give messages. I don't judge anything or anyone. I am "involved" as an artist, yes, but in painting and conquered by beauty".
