Description : Cristo nell'orto degli ulivi

Oil painting on canvas. The tragic evangelical event, which begins the Passion of Christ, is rendered with intensity, underlined by the contrasts of color: in the center the figure of Jesus, kneeling in his ardent prayer of supplication to the Father, stands out for the red robe that emerges strongly from the darkness of the surrounding scene, in which the shadows of the soldiers who are coming to arrest him move in the background on the right; the figure of Christ is projected diagonally upwards, where in the open skies, surrounded by light, appears the angel carrying the Cross and the chalice, signs of the Passion that Jesus is about to face. Restored and relined, the painting is presented in an antique frame.
