Mixed media on canvas. Signed at the bottom right. Valente Assenza was a painter, xylographer and sculptor from Ragusa that studied in Rome and was well known untill the 1960s as a portraitist that was often hired by italian and foreign important people. After 1960s he matured his main vocation, the sacral art, that led him to paint several canvas and altarpieces, mostly in Sicily. His painting remark his research of the meaning expressed by the delicate and chromatically balanced mixing of clolors that give a poetical and joyful meaning to his art. The painting comes with a coeval frame.
