Oil on the table. Signed lower right. Clauco Benito Tiozzo, Venetian, was a painter, sculptor and engraver, who particularly preferred the fresco in which he demonstrated exceptional skill. He also devoted himself to restoration, as well as a careful scholar of Venetian culture and art, publishing numerous articles and books. An unconventional artist, with his very personal approach, he has re-proposed the ancient “way” of the great Venetian painters in a modern key. His works are pervaded by a diffused light and full of refined poetry; he created numerous landscapes of the Brenta and Venetian views, he devoted himself to portraits and figurative compositions for individuals but above all he worked for churches, making various altarpieces and vast fresco cycles, as well as many works of sculpture. The proposed work presents the figure of the Holy Roman bishop and theologian of the 4th century AD: his figure, immersed in a slightly hinted and shaded landscape, is surrounded by the light that comes from the luminous globe at the top. The painting is presented in a frame.
