Oil on canvas. Signed bottom left. The large scene represents, in a countryside landscape, the race of a group of soldiers on horseback, who are reaching their commander who is observing in the shadows of the big tree on the left. The uniforms remind of the Habsburg cavalry from the second half of the 19th century. Ugo Ferrero, originally from Turin but who trained in Milan at the school of Cesare Tallone, dedicated himself to portraiture, but, above all, to fresco mural painting. Some of his pieces decorate public buildings in Milan and its province. Even the piece proposed here, for its dimensions and scenic structure, refers to a type of art with a strong decorative impact. It is presented in a frame.
