Description

Wood travel trunk from the early 1900s with gilded iron studs (remnants of the original gilding remain). The trunk is covered in waxed burlap with leather elements; the interior with storage compartments is lined with paper. The Rauchbach & Goldsmith Company of New Jersey originally began making trunks in the late 1800s during the golden age of travel and became especially famous for their locking systems. The trunk shows signs of wear from time and experienced travel while still remaining a durable item in good condition as a piece of furniture.
