Mixed media on paper applied on canvas. Signed at the bottom right. Pompeo Borra wan an important exponent of Milanese painting of 20th century. His painting of severe purism proposes square images and compact volumes, blocked and silent situations inhabited by everyday objects and dreamy and motionless characters, mostly female. From the 1950s-60s Pompeo Borra abandoned the solid and monumental volumes of his earlier works and introduced the two-dimensionality, bright colours and extreme synthesis of the figures, always immersed in an atmosphere of metaphysical suspension, which characterise the style of his later works. The work is presented in a frame.
