Mixed media on paper. Signed and dated lower right. Mario Bionda was born in Turin in 1913. He completed his training under the guidance of Felice Casorati from 1927 to 1932, starting experiences of metaphysical intent. His path as a painter stems from a profound meditation: he actively participates in a process of purification of matter to reach an almost evocative spirituality. After the war he begins to create all his works with mixed techniques to give substance to the canvas: he tries to reach a material thickness on which to intervene with scratches and grooves, to make the canvas a concrete presence in reality, which preserves the signs of the artist and keeps them unchanged over time. The work is presented in a frame.
