Description : Il Porto di Livorno dopo la Guerra
Oil on the table. Signed and dated lower right. On the back of this handwritten dedication of the author and written by the buyer, the painter colleague Valsecchi, with the title and the registration of origin from the "Exhibition of Tuscan painters" at the Lucas Gallery. Cafiero Filippelli was born in Livorno and artistically trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence, where he came into contact with Giovanni Fattori and the master of liberty art Galileo Chini. Filippelli specialized in artificial light interiors, revealing an intimate inclination, but he also knew how to range in painting en plen air: his marinas and landscapes, teeming with mainly female figures, reveal a marked aptitude for portraiture. The work presented offers a glimpse of the port of Livorno, dominated by the two cargo ships, whose reflections in the water below create a pleasant and suggestive chromatic effect. In frame.
