Oil on canvas. The Virgin mother is depicted in an ecstatic attitude. The gaze turned to the sky, the hands crossed on the heart; around her there is no background, the whole representation is centered on her luminous face surrounded by light. This type of depiction of the Virgin Mary refers to the model of Guido Reni, the Bolognese master among the greatest exponents of 17th Century classicism, whose works and style were widely imitated and taken up by numerous followers and pupils. The painting, on the first canvas, is presented in an ancient frame.
