Oil painting on canvas. Signed lower right. On the back further signature with declaration of authenticity and stamp of the art gallery "Il Tarlo" of Asiago. Born and artistically trained in Rome, Virgilio Guidi lived his career as an artist (painter, poet, essayist) in various Italian cities. Since the Roman years his pictorial research began to follow his own need for investigation and knowledge of reality, which led the artist to use only sometimes the formal languages elaborated by the various pictorial movements that followed one another starting from the second decade of the twentieth century. . G. was among the exponents of Valori plastici, Novecento (participating in the two exhibitions of the Italian Novecento in 1926 and 1929) and later of the Space Movement conceived by L. Fontana (G. was among the signatories of the IV Manifesto of spatial art in 1951), but his position remained essentially solitary, critical and never of absolute programmatic adherence to the aesthetic dictates of these or other groups or currents, even if he was always the bearer of significant personal contributions to new pictorial research. Starting from the 1940s, the Guidi began to systematically develop the great cycles, with which he repeatedly investigated the same subject-composition nucleus, continuing to follow the common thread of all his art: light. His painting has favored the choice of delicate tonal chords and the representation of figurative and landscape elements through abstract rhythms. The drawing belongs to the series of "Faces", extensively developed by the artist with different techniques and color variations, in his characteristic style. It is presented in a stylish frame.
