Oil on copper. Italian school of the seventeenth century. The saint, putative father of Jesus, is depicted holding the flowered stick, his iconographic symbol that derives from a story of an apocryphal gospel, according to which this flowering allowed to identify in Joseph the husband chosen by God for the young Mary. The work is presented in an ancient frame, surmounted by a wooden frieze with floral scrolls.
