Tempera on wood. Russian icon of the XVIII-XIX. The Madonna of Tenderness, also known as Theotokos (or Mother of God) of Vladimir, is one of the most revered and famous Orthodox icons in the world and is a typical example of Byzantine iconography of the Eleusinian typology. The Theotókos is considered the protector of Russia. The table has some shortcomings along the outer edges and along the inner ones of the inner frame of the figure.
