Description

Finely modeled Sancai glazed pottery altar table from the Ming dynasty, in every detail. The table is set with several offering plates. The offerings are meticulously rendered, with engraved detail and bright ochre, green and brown pigment. Such terracotta arrangements would have been made for burial purposes, buried with the deceased in the belief that they could enjoy their favorite foods in the afterlife. Ming era China.
