Description : Gruppo di Ex Voto per Grazia Ricevuta
There are 17 ex voto in embossed metal, mounted on a wooden panel covered in red velvet and framed. Five of these ex-votos depict human figures in their entirety, male and female and in different shapes of dress; seven represent different anatomical parts: the eyes, two legs, an ear, the lungs, a hand, a head; four are the typical hearts with the initials in the center of the pardoned person; finally an unidentified ex voto. The ex voto are those objects offered (still!) In the sanctuaries to thank the recipient of the gift (God, the Madonna, a saint) for having answered a prayer, thus bearing witness to the Grace received. Often the prayers of grace are connected to the sphere of health and therefore to the body, for which, among the various types of votive objects, recurring are the anatomical ex voto, which represent in the vast majority the sick organ, the objects-sign the disease from which the person was cured. Or, as in the depictions of entire human figures, the ex voto represents the person himself who has been pardoned.
