Oil painting on canvas. Intense representation of the Virgin and Child holding the Cross in her hands, a prophetic symbol of her Passion. The work is characterized by the movement of the bodies and fabrics of Maria's clothes, which wrap around the body of the Child almost to surround him, to wrap him in a protective embrace. On the other hand, Jesus seems to free himself, reaching out towards his destiny, while Mary's gaze seems almost resigned, humbly turned downwards. Restored and relined, the painting is presented in a late 19th-early 20th century frame.
