Tempera on cardboard. Signed lower right. Characteristic work of the Como-born painter Carlo Pellegrini, who always favored winter subjects and often related to sport. With the painting "Winter sports" he also won first prize in the art competition held on the occasion of the Stockholm Olympics in 1912. He also created posters and postcards for winter sporting events. This snow-covered expanse is of great effect, dominated by other white alpine peaks, whose continuity is interrupted only by the silhouettes of some submerged huts. The painting is presented in a guilloché frame from the early 1900s.
