Oil painting on canvas. Signed and dated lower right. Faces that stare upwards emerge, indefinite, floating, superimposed, on a background that is also vague and indefinite. The work produced in the 1960s by the Genoese artist (not only a painter) Aurelio Carminati, that is, the second phase of his continuous and inexhaustible artistic research, that of the so-called "false ideologies", that is, explicit quotations from famous paintings, but also inventions original figurative as the evanescent presence of strange ghosts emerging from the canvas or paper. Caminati was an artist who loved to experiment, passing from the social realism of denunciation (he was a partisan of the Second World War), to a painting close to pop-art, to then return to hyper-realism. The work is presented in a contemporary frame.
