Mixed technique on canvas. On the back present the signature, the date and the title. Senegalese artist Soly Cissé creates works that are both pictorial and graphic, rooted in the culture of his hometown and full of autobiographical content. Cissé creates fantastic worlds where figures emerge from chaos and disharmony. His figures blend animal and human forms into strange, unlikely hybrids who wear death masks as if they were deities from a magical world. Sequences of numbers and letters are often inserted, referencing both barcodes and mystical numerology. The work proposed here presents all these elements, which surround a scene of nepotism/favoritism, as the title suggests.
