Pencil on paper. Signed and dated lower right (Pasqua '928). On the back, on the same date, the dedication "Dear Mrs. Lysa, here is the first thought of the painter Alciati from which his beautiful Madonna blossomed. Cordial greetings and happy Easter", with signature. Intense study of the painter from Vercelli, trained in Milan where he also became a teacher at the Brera Academy, who made a name for himself as a portrait painter, and who only painted landscapes only in the last years of his life. Even the production of sacred subjects was very meager for Alciati: in this case it is a study for a Face of the Madonna, made in the last year of his life, evidently on commission, as explicit in the dedication. The drawing is presented in a frame.
