Description
Louis Vuitton trunk from the late 1800s, restored to its original condition. It is a malle cabine, that is a trunk with a compact shape and small dimensions, created to be stored under the bed of the cabins of transatlantic liners. Upholstered in Damier canvas, a fabric characterized by checkered motifs and invented a few years earlier by Georges Vuitton, son of Louis. The lock is in brass, the nails are branded, the finishes in iron and wood. The initials "MA", placed on both short sides, provide information regarding the first owner. Inside covered with the classic lined paper and equipped with the original label bearing the unique number of the product (200382); top shelf absent. Made by the Maison on special commission, with a width of 75 cm (standard width 80 cm). It is rare to find trunks from this era with the canvas preserved in such good condition. Louis Vuitton trunks, iconic pieces of furniture and collectibles, are still resistant and waterproof today, examples of great craftsmanship.
