Description : Ritratto di San Filippo Neri

Oil painting on canvas. The portrait of the Saint derives from a similar canvas created by Carlo Dolci (1616 -1686, a late work by the artist currently kept in the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, and which inspired many Florentine artists to depict the much loved Saint in the city). Compared to the original, the painting presented here is made on the opposite side. The portrait underlines the sweet expression of the Saint, educator and founder of the Congregation of the Oratory. The painting has been restored and relined.
