Description : La nascita di Venere
Oil on the table. Signed and dated lower left. The work proposes the classic subject of the birth of Venus in the traditional nude female figure emerging from the waters of the sea standing on a large shell, pushed into the water by two other girls. While referring to an ancient myth repeatedly taken up in art, Garin updates the event, placing a contemporary port city in the background, one of the French ports on the Côte d'Azur where the artist from Nice lived. The pictorial style is characterized by rapid brushstrokes and well-defined human figures, with a thick and marked outline, while the background elements are more nuanced. Particular is the play of the white clouds that surround the figure of Venus to frame it. The work is presented in a period frame.
