The fight of St. George with the dragon, taken from the Golden Legend, in the Middle Ages became the symbol of the fight of good against evil and, for this reason, the world of chivalry saw its ideals embodied in it and the cult of the saint became very popular in the West and throughout the Byzantine East, where he is the "great martyr" and the "conqueror" par excellence. On the back of the canvas presented here there is an inscription from 1814 which indicates the transfer of ownership. The painting is presented in a frame from the early 1900s.
