Description : Cilindro
Mixed technique on canvas. Signed, dated and titled on the reverse. A cylinder stands out in the center surrounded by splashes of red paint that evoke blood; in the background, faded, soldiers appear with their arms raised in a Nazi salute. Paolo Baratella has developed his art by composing vast pictorial cycles inspired by contemporary subjects; therefore we have a series of works by him gathered under significant titles, among which we have the cycle "Life, death, miracles of Joe Ditale", created in 1974, a political fiction screenplay that tells of a wealthy Italian-American neo-Nazi entrepreneur. The painting proposed here refers to the theme of this pictorial cycle, for the clear reference to neo-Nazi politics.
