Description : Ritratto maschile
Oil painting on canvas. Signed and dated lower right. On the back of the frame there is a label that refers to the name of Eloy Du Bois. The painting can be considered the twin of that of Victoire Du Bois, wife of Felix Eloy Du Bois, also executed by Jean-Henri De Coene and from the collection of JE Safra, sold at Christie's auction in New York on May 24, 2023 The two paintings have the exact same measurements, identical signature and date placed in the same position on the right. It is therefore plausible that they were executed in pairs, for the same client, and probably separated in subsequent hereditary transmissions. The rendering capacity of the fabrics of elegant men'S clothing stands out in the painting, as well as that of the precious tie clip worn. The work is on the first canvas.
