Description

Graphite on paper. Signed and dated August 1960 lower right. Accompanied by photo authentication by Studio Marconi in Milan. Bepi Romagnoni, a young Milanese artist who died tragically at a young age, was an exponent of the pictorial movement of existential realism which was inspired by the philosophy of Kierkegaard, Camus, Sartre: this inspiration is found in the themes chosen as the subject of his works - empty , the lack of communication between the characters, loneliness and the differences between social classes -, both in the pictorial ones and in the subsequent collages. He was always up to date with international contemporary art (such as the Cobra group and the European informal) and was also interested in the Mexican mural painting of José Clemente Orozco, beginning to feel strong expressionist accents in his production, and then, from the end from the 50s and early 60s, with surrealist influences, populating his painting with graphic signs and sometimes creating phytomorphic and zoomorphic images. The proposed work belongs to this period. It is presented in a frame.
